New project on disabled women and non-binary people's experiences of care and support

Disabled Women Ireland and the Disability Participation News Hub are delighted to announce that we have been awarded funding from the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC), for a new project on disabled women’s and non-binary people’s experiences of care.

Disabled women and non-binary people give care and receive care, often at the same time. But our voices are often missing from the conversation about care.

Between November 2026 and March 2027, we’ll hold a series of workshops where disabled women and non-binary people can share their experiences of giving and receiving care.

What we hear will feed into a report to shape advocacy for a more person-centred care system, and inform Ireland’s first review under the UNCRPD in 2027.
